budget to review at their regular monthly meeting tonight. A public hearing on the tentative budget was set for 5 PM on November 15th in the second floor boardroom at the County Court House in Lowville. The proposed 2017 budget expenditures of $45,131,282 is a $1,166,804 (2.65%) increase over the $43.964,478 budgeted for 2016, which currently exceeds the State's tax cap. Revenues for 2017 are budgeted at $28,787,605, an increase of $865,959 over budgeted revenues of $27,921,646 for 2016. The tentative 2017 budget proposes using $820,000 from the fund balance, a $100,000 decrease from the 2016 amount of $920,000. This leaves the amount to be collected by taxes, $15,523,677, at $400,845 more than 2016 amount of $15,122,832. With an increase in the county's full taxable land value, the proposed full value tax rate/$1,000 would be $7.32, twelve cents lower than the 2016 rate of $7.44.
