Boonville, NY-

Daryl R. Ortlieb has been named as Officer in Charge (OIC) of

the Village of Boonville Police Department. The department, like many smaller

departments, uses an Officer in Charge title instead of a Chief of Police.

OIC Ortlieb takes over for Corporal Eric W. McIntyre, who had led the

department for the past 2 years, before retiring after a 21 year career. The

change took effect November 15th. Mr. Ortlieb brings nearly 15 years of

experience as a Road Patrol Officer and Deputy Sheriff with the Lewis County

Sheriff's Office, and spent the past year with the Lowville Police Department.

" I am looking forward to the challenges of running a department in my

community," OIC Ortlieb told linkinglewiscounty.com. "Boonville has great pride

in it's village and I will work hard to protect it." he said.

OIC Ortlieb plans to start providing a weekly report of the department's activity

to local media outlets in an effort to keep the public informed.
