Republican voters in the Town of Croghan and the Village

of Harrisville will have the opportunity to cast a vote for their desired candidate

to represent the party on the November 8th ballot in two contested primaries on

Tuesday. Polls will be open from noon until 9 PM.

In the Town of Croghan, three women are all seeking the Republican party line

for Town Clerk/Collector. Chelsea Lehman Cowan, the current acting clerk, is

seeking to keep the position. Ms. Lehman Cowan, daughter of Town of

Croghan Supervisor Andrew Lehman, was appointed to the position of

Assistant Clerk in December by the Town Council, following Betsy T. Boliver's

decision to decline the position after winning the post last November when she

defeated Ms. Lehman Cowan in the general election. Rebecca Schroy and

Sandra J. Schneider are challenging Ms. Lehman Cowan for the Republican

line in this year's general election. All three candidates hold independent party

lines and will all appear on the November 8th ballot.

In Harrisville, voters have a choice between two candidates to represent the

Republican line for the position of Village Trustee, Michelle L. LaPlatney and

Richard N. Malbeuf. Ms. LaPlatney is the daughter of village Mayor Gary L.

Williams. Both candidates also have an independent party line and will appear

on the November ballot to take on Democratic candidate Zachary Smith.
