under precautionary quarantine restrictions following a positive COVID-19 test result for an employee. Highway Superintendent Timothy Hunt told linkinglewiscounty.com that all employees were sent home yesterday afternoon after he received notification that an employee had tested positive for COVID-19. The positive case has been placed in isolation. The remainder of the approximately 21 employees of the department have all been placed under precautionary quarantine restrictions. All of the department's employees were together in the same location for a meeting on Monday. Although everyone in attendance wore a mask and maintained more than six feet of distance, according to Mr. Hunt, all employees are being quarantined out of an abundance of caution because they were all in the same location together with the positive case. As essential workers, the quarantined employees will still be able to work on a call-in basis for essential matters such as plowing roads or removing debris from roadways. Any employee that tests positive for COVID-19 and is placed in isolation is not allowed to work. Mr. Hunt said a plan has been made with the town and village highway departments in the county to all assist each other with plow routes in the event that any department has a high number of employees placed in isolation due to positive COVID-19 tests. |
