| Student and Staff Member at Beaver River Test Positive for COVID-19 October 22, 2020 04:00 p.m. |

and a staff member have tested positive for COVID-19, in two letters to district families. The district issued a letter Wednesday confirming a student had tested positive for virus on Tuesday. "The District is working in collaboration with Lewis County Public Health, which is currently performing the contact tracing process pursuant to their protocols. Through this process it was determined that the student was not present in school during the time that he/she was infectious. Thus there is no immediate concern in regards to contact with the student," the letter states. Today another letter was issued confirming that a staff member had received a positive test result on Wednesday evening. "The District is working in collaboration with Lewis County Public Health, which is currently performing the contact tracing process pursuant to their protocols. This is a new case, different from the one released Wednesday, October 21, 2020," the letter states. Both letters go on to state: "The contact tracing process identifies anyone who comes into close contact with someone who has COVID-19. Contact tracing slows the spread of COVID-19 and helps protect you, your family, and our community. If you are contacted by Lewis County Public Health due to contact, please follow their recommendations. The school reopening plan was developed to address potential positive cases. The District continues to follow the policies and procedures/protocols to ensure the health and safety of our students and employees. Social distancing protocols and disinfecting measures continue to be in place. Additionally, as an additional precaution, extra cleaning has occurred in the areas frequented by the staff member." |
