| Lewis County Emerging Professionals Launch 'Get on Board' Initiative to Connect Interested Community Members With Open Board Seats September 22, 2020 08:00 a.m. |
LEWIS COUNTY EMERGING PROFESSIONALS PROMOTE COMMUNITY BOARD POSITIONS TO MEMBERS AND RESIDENTS The ‘Get on Board’ Initiative, created by Lewis County Emerging Professionals, will provide matchmaking services between open board seats and those looking to get more involved in the community. LEWIS COUNTY, NY – The Lewis County Emerging Professionals group has launched their new initiative for 2020 called ‘Get on Board,’ an online matchmaking service that connects open board seats within local community organizations, not for profits, and municipalities with individuals looking to get more involved in the community. By promoting open board positions and boards within the community, the group hopes to spur local interest to inspire more people to join boards and even attend their local board meetings to gain a broader understanding of what is happening locally. McKenzie Lehman, President of LCEP, has always been passionate about Lewis County but did not immediately recognize the importance of getting involved. “Before participating in the Lewis County Leadership Academy, I had never considered joining a board, and becoming a board member was not something I believed I was qualified for. The LCEP board has been discussing this initiative for several years, because we feel strongly that people of all professions and age groups should be able to make a difference in their community.” The initiative will seek open board positions from local community groups, not for profits, or municipalities and will create a running list on their website. They will then promote the site through various forms of outreach. The group will also seek out community members who are looking to get involved, but may not know where to start, and match community members with open board positions through the online portal. Website developer, David Steltz, has been involved with the LCEP group for three years, and has created the online matchmaking portal. By utilizing technology to better advertise, the group will be able to reach a wider audience. An online portal with a listing of open board positions within local communities and organizations will be posted and updated by the LCEP group. Organizations who are looking to post their board opening can simply visit lewiscountyep. com/get-on-board and fill out a simple fillable form. The LCEP group will then continuously market the open board positions to their email list, social media following and community. The hope is to inspire community members to get involved and have their voice heard for the future generations of Lewis County, NY. ### About Lewis County Emerging Professionals The Lewis County Emerging Professionals network was established to attract and retain professionals by enhancing the social, professional, and community outreach opportunities available to emerging professionals within Lewis County and to increase the opportunity for communication, shared knowledge and interaction between those individuals, uniting them in a common cause to promote community development and service |
