Lowville Academy 212th Commencement Program Announced For June 19th and 20th Lowville Academy’s 212th Commencement exercise honoring the Class of 2020 will occur on Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20th. The first part of the ceremony will be Friday, June 19th and will be virtually broadcasted over the internet for graduates and their families starting at 6:30 p. m. A link will be posted on the school’s website (www.lowvilleacademy.org) approximately 20 minutes prior to the live broadcast. This portion of the ceremony will include speeches delivered by the National Honor Society President, the Class President and by the commencement speaker. Also, we will be announcing our awards and scholarship winners. The night will conclude with a message from the Board of Education President, Mr. Thomas Schneeberger. On Saturday, June 20th we will begin granting individual diplomas starting at 9: 30 a.m. and concluding by 3:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the High School. If it rains, diplomas will be granted in the High School Auditorium. This is open to graduates and their immediate family. It is important for all Lowville Academy graduates to experience walking across the stage in receiving their diplomas. Extended family and community members can also view this portion of graduation online through a link on the school website. Please check with your graduate on their specific time slot they have been given to receive their diploma. As the graduates come to stage some will be wearing additional stoles and cords signifying academic excellence at Lowville Academy as well as BOCES. National Honor Society members will be wearing their traditional gold stole which signifies their good standing as a member of the Russell R. Zeller Chapter. Students attending the Howard G. Sackett Technical Center and members of the National Technical Honor Society will be wearing purple and white cords to signify their excellence in their vocational program. Additionally, those students attaining honors in FFA will be wearing their blue cords. A glimpse of the academic accomplishments of the Class of 2020 include:
• 54 will receive N.Y.S. Advanced Regents Diplomas (58% of the class) • 36 will receive N.Y.S. Regents Diplomas (39% of the class) • 3 will receive local diplomas (3% of the class) • 2 will enter the military • 5 will graduate with Skills & Achievement Credentials/CDOS Congratulations to all the graduates in the Class of 2020 and their families! |
