| County Reaches Labor Deal with Road Patrol Unit at Sheriff's Office April 08, 2020 11:00 a.m. By: Nick Altmire |
approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the Road Patrol bargaining unit, represented by the United Public Service Employees Union, for a new one-year labor agreement. The road patrol unit, which consists of about 20 Sheriff's deputies, has also approved the agreement. The previous labor agreement between the two parties had expired on December 31, 2019. Lewis County Director of Human Resources Caitlyn Smith said the agreement includes a salary increase of 2.5%, effective with the beginning of the next pay period. The pay increase is not retroactive, instead full-time members will receive a one-time payment of $325 and part-time members will receive a pro-rated amount based on their standard number of hours worked. The salary increase is consistent with the annual increases provided in the last deal of 2.5% in 2017, 1.25% in 2018, and 2.5% in 2019. Under the deal, all provisions of the 2016-2019 contract will remain in effect. The deal with the Road Patrol unit means Lewis County now has active contracts with all of the bargaining units representing county employees, with three of those deals set to expire at the end of the year. |
