in Lewis County Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: David A. Baxter, 51, of Croghan, was sentenced as a second-felony offender to serve 3 years in State prison followed by 2 years of parole on a charge of third- degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class D felony. He pleaded guilty to the charge on January 24, admitting to possessing the materials used to make the drug during a May 17 traffic stop in the town of New Bremen. Judge King made a recommendation for Mr. Baxter to participate in the State prison system's SHOCK incarceration program, which allows inmates to serve their remaining time under parole supervision after successfully completing the boot camp style program. Mr. Baxter was additionally ordered to pay $350 in court fees and will have his driver's license suspended for 6 months. He had previous felony convictions for Assault in 2010 and DWI in 2013. Brian S. Coe, 29, of town of Leyden, was sentenced to serve 2 1/2 years in State prison followed by 3 years of parole on a charges of second-degree Strangulation, a class D felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor. Mr. Coe pleaded guilty to the charges on December 13, admitting to placing his hands around the victim's neck and applying pressure during a dispute at his Kerwin Road residence on May 27, in the presence of a child. He was additionally ordered to pay $375 in court fees and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. Shawn L. Exford, 28, of Lowville, was sentenced to serve 3 years under probation supervision on a charge of third-degree Assault, a class A misdemeanor. He pleaded guilty to the charge on November 1, admitting to intending to cause injury when striking a victim in the head with a glass candle in the village of Lowville. Mr. Exford was additionally ordered to pay $250 in court fees and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. Duncan C. Kelley, 20, of Carthage, pleaded guilty to one count of Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor, admitting to stealing three cross bows and a knife in the town of Pinckney on November 18. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to April 24, when Mr. Kelley is expected to be placed on probation for 3 years. Erica M. Landrum, 30, of Glenfield, pleaded guilty to one count of fourth-degree Welfare Fraud, a class E felony, admitting to receiving SNAP benefits to which she was not entitled between April 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to May 8th. Daniel McLoughlin, 33, of Sandy Hook, CT, was sentenced to serve 2 1/2 years in State prison followed by a year of parole on a charge of fifth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony. Mr. McLoughlin pleaded guilty to the charge on October 18, admitting to selling the drug LSD to an undercover officer at the moe.down music festival on July 5 in the town of Turin. Judge King mandated Mr. McLoughlin to the State prison system's Willard Drug Rehabilitation Program, which allows inmates to serve their remaining sentence under parole supervision after successfully completing the program. Mr. McLoughlin was ordered to pay $50 in court fees and will have his driver's license suspended for 6 months. Restitution in the amount of $445 was paid and $451 in seized assets were forfeited. |
