    JCC offers New Healthcare Management Degree

    Jefferson Community College (JCC) announces the launch of a new associate in
    science degree program in Healthcare Management. Students may apply now
    and register for spring 2020 semester late session (8-week) classes that begin
    March 16, 2020 and wrap up by May 7, 2020. Applying to Jefferson is free!

    Designed to be the first two years of a four-year education, Jefferson has
    transfer agreements with SUNY Canton and SUNY Empire State. SUNY Canton
    offers a bachelor of science degree program in Health Care Management that
    can be completed 100% online and SUNY Empire offers a bachelor of science
    degree program in Business, Management and Economics with a concentration
    in Health Care Management. Additionally, through the Jefferson Higher
    Education Center (JHEC) on campus, students can pursue a bachelor of science
    degree in Health Services Administration from partnering institution Bryant &
    Stratton College.

    Jefferson’s healthcare management program is appropriate for students who
    wish to pursue positions with hospitals, physicians’ offices, clinics, rehabilitation
    centers, long-term care facilities, and numerous other types of healthcare-related
    facilities.

    Graduates of healthcare management will have an understanding of healthcare
    law and ethical principles in the context of the healthcare environment, have the
    ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form and have the
    specialized vocabulary utilized in the healthcare industry, ability to motivate, lead
    individuals and teams in a healthcare setting, identify current issues and trends
    affecting the U.S. healthcare delivery system and strategies to address the
    issues and have a basic knowledge of healthcare finance and efficient use of
    resources.

    “The Healthcare Management program was created to meet a plethora of jobs in
    entry level management in the health industry,” said Thomas J. Finch, Jefferson’
    s vice president for academic affairs. “It also articulates into a program in our
    JHEC for transfer into a bachelor’s degree program. We are excited to get this
    program started on our campus.”

    All of the required classes for Jefferson’s healthcare management program are
    offered on campus and several are offered online and at the Fort Drum
    Education Center. Enrollment is still open for spring 2020 semester. Interested

    process.
