| Video: Lowville Food Pantry Presented With New Van and Trailer January 22, 2020 08:00 p.m. |
trailer at a ceremony in the showroom at Essenlohr Motors this afternoon. The van and trailer were made possible through a project by the Lowville Lions Club to help the local food pantry replace their existing van that was aged and in constant need of repairs. The project started when the Lowville Lions Club Hunger Committee started identifying various needs within the community, according to committee chairman Tom Spaulding. It was concluded that the Lowville Food Pantry was in dire need of a new vehicle. The committee secured a grant through the Lions Club International Foundation to start the funding for the project. Local businesses were contacted for donations to reach the project goal of $40,000 for the van and trailer. "Without the generous support of local businesses, this project would have never happened,” Mr. Spaulding said. The local businesses and organizations that contributed to the project include: Slack Chemical, Essenlohr Motors, Lowville Teachers’ Association, Lowville Elks, Lowville Sport and Farm Equipment, Griffith Energy, Dr. Manoj and Sheree Vora, Jeb’s Restaurant, Northern Credit Union, Lewis County and First Presbyterian Church. The Lowville Food Pantry helps over 300 Lewis County families on average each month. Our full video from this afternoon's ceremony is included below, along with some photos. |
