with the Honorable John H. Crandall presiding. Ryan L. Hoch, 22, accepted a plea deal and entered a guilty plea to one count of first-degree Sexual Abuse, a class D felony, satisfying a seven count grand jury indictment. The plea deal was reached just prior to the case going to trial, which had been scheduled to start on Monday, January 27. Mr. Hoch pleaded guilty to the sixth count of the indictment, admitting to subjecting a female to sexual contact while she was incapable of consent by reason of being physically helpless, on January 13, 2019 in the town of Martinsburg. The case was prosecuted by Oneida County Assistant District Attorney Laurie Lisi, due to a potential conflict with the Lewis County District Attorney's office. Judge Crandall presided over the case due to a potential conflict for Lewis County Judge Daniel R. King The plea deal was offered to the defendant with the consent of the victim, according to Mrs. Lisi. Sentencing was scheduled for April 3rd, when Mr. Hoch is expected to receive six months of incarceration at the Lewis County Jail, followed by 10 years of probation. He will also be required to register as a sex offender, with a hearing to determine his offender level to be scheduled at a later date. Mr. Hoch requested to be remanded today to start serving his time prior to sentencing. Judge Crandall honored the request and remanded Mr. Hoch to the Lewis County Jail without bail until sentencing takes place on April 3. Mr. Hoch was facing a total of seven charges in a grand jury indictment handed up in June. All charges are satisfied with the plea to the charge of first-degree Sexual Abuse, a class D felony.
