Lowville, New York Man Sentenced to Five Years in Prison on Federal Drug Charges
40 Grams of a Fentanyl and Heroin Mixture UTICA, NEW YORK – Derek Damuth, 25, of Lowville, New York, was sentenced today to 60 months imprisonment by United States District Judge David N. Hurd based on his conviction for possessing with the intent to distribute in excess of 40 grams of a mixture of fentanyl and heroin, announced United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith, Lewis County District Attorney Leanne K. Moser, Special Agent in Charge of United States Drug Enforcement Administration, New York Division (DEA) Raymond P. Donovan, and New York State Police Superintendent Keith Corlett. Damuth was also ordered to serve four years of supervised release following his release from prison. As part of his guilty plea in this case, Damuth admitted that in November 2018, he possessed more than forty grams of a substance containing fentanyl, 17 ounces of marijuana, additional quantities of cocaine and heroin, and drug- trafficking paraphernalia. Damuth further admitted that he intended to distribute the drugs. This case was investigated by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the New York State Police, with assistance from the Lewis County (New York) District Attorney’s Office, and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicolas Commandeur. |
