and Emergency Services in Lewis County, for an update on the flooding occurring in the county. Mr. MacKenzie states that the Black River has crested at Dadville currently. Points south of there should see water beginning to recede. The main concern now moves to point northwest of Dadville, from Castorland to Carthage. The river should crest there within the next few hours. People should refrain from driving through roadways where water is crossing the road. "Turn around, don't drown," is the biggest message for residents, Mr. Mackenzie said. Even after water recedes, it may take a few days to get all of the roads reopened. Bridges will need to be inspected, debris cleared, and stone and gravel will need to be replaced along the side of roadways. Mr. MacKenzie said most people should be able to go about their daily routines, just check ahead to ensure your route of travel is open. The latest road closures can be found here. Emergency Management officials, along with highway departs and volunteer fire departments have been working around the clock since Thursday night, monitoring and addressing the flooding.
