owville, NY-

A Meet the Candidates forum has been scheduled for Monday,

October 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the auditorium at Lowville Academy, sponsored by

linkinglewiscounty.com.

The evening will give Lewis County residents a final opportunity to hear from

county level candidates prior to the November 5 General Election.

All three of the candidates on the ballot for the Lewis County Treasurer race

(Christine Schwendy, Eric Virkler and Denise Yost) will take the stage from 7 to

7:30. We have also invited candidates in the two contested legislative districts in

the county, District 1 (John Lehman and Phil Hathway) and District 4 (Ian Gilbert

and Thomas Schantz).

A panel of local media representatives, including Scott Atkinson, News Director

at WWNY TV-7; Julie Abbass, Lewis County reporter for the Watertown Daily

Times; Nick Altmire, Editor/Publisher of linkinglewiscounty.com; and Brian

Trainor from Flack Broadcasting will pose questions to the candidates.

During the second hour we will hear from candidates running unopposed for

countywide offices, including Lewis County Sheriff Michael Carpinelli, District

Attorney Leanne Moser and County Clerk Candidate Jake Moser. The remaining

8 legislators are also invited to participate in the second hour of the event.

Election day is Tuesday, November 5, with early voting starting October 26.

We'll have much more on the election and the forum coming next week.
