| Video: Annual Cream Cheese Festival Returns to Lowville for 15th Year on Saturday, September 21 September 19, 2019 08:15 p.m. |
Cheese Festival is set to take over downtown Lowville on Saturday, September 21. The festival will open at 11 a.m. and run until 6 p.m. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 12 p.m., followed by the cutting and serving of the "giant cheesecake" at the Lowville Fire Hall. This year, for the first time, a quarter of the giant cheesecake will be chocolate/hazelnut flavored, with the rest remaining the traditional original flavor. Downtown Lowville will closed off to traffic between the Shady/Dayan Street intersection of State Street and the Bostwick Street intersection. The festival features two stages of live music and entertainment, vendors from around the area, lots of food, along with various cream cheese themed games and activities. The Children's Discovery Zone will be set up in Veterans Memorial Park, located behind the Lowville Fire Hall. There is a $5 admission fee to the Discovery Zone, which is good for the entire day. Parking will be available at the Lewis County Fairgrounds on Bostwick Street and the Lowville Tops Plaza. Shuttle buses will be running from both locations, to take people back and forth to the festival area downtown, for $1 each way.
