County Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Derek W. Bond, 29, of Montgomery Center, VT, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of fourth-degree Criminal Sale of Marijuana, a class A misdemeanor. Mr. Bond admitted to selling marijuana to an undercover investigator on July 6, during the moe.down music festival in the town of Turin. He was originally charged with third-degree Criminal Sale of Marijuana, a class E felony. Sentencing was scheduled for October 18, when Mr. Bond is expected to be given a conditional discharge after one year and be fined $500. Russell K. Clary, 40, of Watertown, pleaded guilty to one count of third-degree Grand Larceny, a class D felony, satisfying all charges he was facing. Mr. Clary admitted to cashing a forged check in the amount of $4,378.77 in the village of Lowville on September 20, 2018. Sentencing was adjourned to December 20, when Mr. Clary is expected to receive 2 1/2 to 5 years in State prison as a second felony offender. Rebekah L. Pettit, 29, of Watertown, was placed on interim conditions of probation for a year after pleading guilty to one count each of fourth-degree Insurance Fraud, a class E felony and second-degree Offering a FalseInstrument for Filing, a class A misdemeanor, on July 12. At that time Ms. Pettit admitted to providing false information to the Department of Labor and failing to report income in order to receive $7,003 in unemployment benefits to which she wasn't entitled between October 31, 2016 and April 16, 2019. Final sentencing was adjourned to September 18, 2020. Charles V. Wareham, 22, of Watertown, had his plea to a charge of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony, vacated and instead pleaded guilty to a charge of seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class A misdemeanor, after successfully completing the Lewis County Drug Court program. Mr. Wareham had previously admitted to possessing methamphetamine, with the intent to sell, during a traffic stop on March 23, 2017 in the Town of Croghan. He was sentenced today to serve 3 years on probation, receiving one year of credit for his time in drug court. Additionally Mr. Wareham was ordered to pay $250 in court fees and perform 50 hours of community service. Kayla M. Weiler Larkins, 26, of Port Leyden, had her plea vacated to a charge of second-degree Forgery, a class D felony, and instead pleaded guilty to a charge of third-degree Forgery, a class A misdemeanor, after successful completion of interim conditions of probation. Judge King then sentenced her to serve 3 years on probation, with credit for the one year of interim probation already served. Restitution in the amount of $200 was previously paid and she was additionally ordered to pay $50 in court fees. Ms. Weiler previously admitted to making a check out to herself and forging the signature of the account holder in the Town of Leyden, between May 1 and June 14, 2017. |
