morning in Lewis County Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Andrew J. Bennet, 29, Lowville, pleaded guilty to two counts of Sex Offender Registration Violation, class E felonies, admitting that he failed to provide an address update and photo for annual verification as a convicted sex offender in October. He was sentenced to serve a total of two years in Lewis County Jail, one year each on the two counts of Sex Offender Registry, and ordered to pay $375 in court fees. Lori J. Durham, 62, Lyons Falls, was placed on probation for 5 years after pleading guilty June 7 to one count of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a class E felony, when she admitted to stealing $3,954.97 in cash and product from the Greig Store, between September 19 and October 19, 2018, while employed at the store. Ms. Durham was additionally ordered to pay restitution in full and $375 in court fees. William J. Ferris, 44, of Schenevus, NY, successfully completed one year of interim probation and his plea to a charge of third-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "B" felony, was vacated and replaced with a guilty plea to fifth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class D felony. He was then placed on probation for four additional years and ordered to pay $375 in court fees. Mr. Ferris admitted to selling hallucinogens in the Town of Turin on July 1, 2017, during the moe.down Music Festival. Wendy M. MacCue, 42, of Croghan, pleaded guilty to one count of fifth-degree Welfare Fraud, a class A misdemeanor. She was then sentenced to a one year conditional discharge, ordered to perform 60 hours of community service and pay a $50 court fee. Restitution was paid in full and Ms. MacCue will be diaqualified from receiving any public assistance benefits for one year. Scott N. MacCue, 47, of Croghan, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of Disorderly Conduct, a violation, and was given a one year conditional discharge and will also be disqualified from receiving any public assistance benefits for one year. Also in Lewis County Court on Friday, with the Honorable John H. Crandall presiding, Jason E. Woodhouse, 31, of Lowville, pleaded guilty to one count of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a class E felony. Mr. Woodhouse admitted to operating a vehicle with a BAC of .18 percent or higher on Shady Avenue in the village of Lowville on April 21. He had a previous DWI conviction in 2017. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to August 29, when Mr Woodhouse is expected to be placed on probation for 5 years. |
