Town of Denmark to Start Dog Count September 1

July 29, 2019   10:15 a.m.
Press Release from Town of Denmark Dog Control:

At the meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Denmark on July 15th, the
board approved a dog enumeration be conducted in the town starting September
1st, 2019. The purpose is to get an accurate count of dogs within the town and
assure all are properly licensed and vaccinated against rabies as per town &
    NYS law as follows:

A.) All dogs in the Town of Denmark must be licensed with the Town Clerk by the
age of four months and are required to present a current Certificate of Rabies or
a letter from a licensed veterinarian stating such vaccination would be harmful to
the dog at the time of licensing or the renewal of an existing license.

B.) All dog licenses will be for a period of one year and will expire at the end of
the month one year from the date of issue.

C.) Fees for licensing of dogs. The fee for a spayed or neutered dog will be $10
(which includes the assessment of a one-dollar surcharge for the purpose of
carrying out animal population control), and the fee for an unspayed or
unneutered dog will be $20 (which includes the assessment of a three-dollar
surcharge for the purpose of carrying out animal population control), with such
fees being reviewed by the Town Board periodically and may be changed by a
resolution of the Town Board, if deemed necessary.

D.) Enumeration fee. When the Town Board determines the need for a dog
enumeration, a fee of $10 will be assessed to all dogs found unlicensed at the
    time the enumeration is conducted.

During the enumeration period, representatives from the town dog control will be
delivering a letter w/a form to ALL residents of the town with instructions. Please,
complete the form as instructed. If you currently have a dog(s) that is unlicensed,
you are encouraged to get them licensed prior to September 1st to avoid the
enumeration fee. If you have any questions you can call the town clerk’s office at
    315 493-3846 ext. 1.

    Thank you for your cooperation.
