15 Years to Life in Prison on Child Sex Charges

July 19, 2019   12:45 p.m.   By: Nick Altmire
Lowville, NY- A town of Denmark was sentenced this morning in Lewis County
Court as a second felony offender, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding.

Terick R. Goodwin, 46, was sentenced to serve 15 years to life in State prison
after pleading guilty to two counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child,
class A felonies, during an appearance on June 3. He admitted to having sexual
intercourse and oral sexual contact with a female under the age of 13 at his State
Route 26 residence in the town of Denmark in September.

An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim for 8 years after the
maximum release date. Mr. Goodwin was additionally ordered to pay $1,425 in
    court fees and fines.

Mr. Goodwin's attorney, Leslie Lewis, had asked the court to consider a 30 day
continuance prior to sentencing, as his client wished to consult with additional
counsel in an effort to retract his guilty plea to the charges. Judge King denied
the motion, noting that Mr. Goodwin voluntarily entered the pleas during his
    allocution on June 3.

Mr. Goodwin had previous felony drug convictions in both Jefferson and
    Rockland counties.
