| Local Students Place at USA High School Clay Target League Championship in Michigan July 14, 2019 06:45 p.m. |
USA High School Clay Target League Championship in Mason, MI this weekend, with five schools represented in the individual competition. The tournament kicked off for teams from all over the country with practice rounds on Thursday and Friday and a qualifying on Saturday. The Championship round took place today. On the team side, the top 80 teams from Saturday's qualifier moved on to today's championship. Teams from Beaver River, Lowville Academy and Carthage each moved into Sunday's round, finishing 6, 34, and 61 respectively in the qualifier. Harrisville finished number 173 overall on Saturday and didn't move on to Sunday's competition. After Sunday's final round, where scores were added to Saturday's qualifying score, Beaver River finished 10th overall in the country, with Lowville placing 36th and Carthage finishing in 55th. Roseau High School, in Minnesota, won the championship. In the individual competition, 400 students advanced out of Saturday's qualifying round. Students from Beaver River, Carthage, Copenhagen, Harrisville and Lowville were amoung the top 400 in the nation.
