Lewis County Primary Absentee Ballot
Count Completed With No Impact on Races

Absentee ballots were counted this morning at the Lewis County

Board of Elections for last Tuesday's Primary Election. Although the absentee

count could have impacted a few races, results held up for all of the candidates

leading on election night.

Here are the results in the county wide races and other closely contested races:

Treasurer (Republican Primary):

Eric Virkler received 60 absentee votes with Denise Yost receiving 41. Mr.

Virkler will move on as the Republican candidate in the November 5 General

Election with a total of 825 votes to Ms. Yost's 777 votes. Ms. Yost will appear on

the ballot on the Independence Party line. There is also a Democratic Party

candidate in the race, Christine Schwendy. Mr. Virkler will also appear on the

Conservative Party line.

County Clerk (Republican Primary):

Jake Moser added 59 absentee votes to his election night total, finishing with

1,036 votes. John Healt received 34 absentee votes, bringing his total to 528.

Mr. Moser moves on to the November 5 General Election as the Republican

candidate. Mr. Moser will also appear on the Conservative and Independence

party lines.

Legislator District 7 (Republican Primary):

Incumbent Greg Kulzer held a 95-83 lead over challenger Joshua Leviker on

election night, with 15 absentee ballots to be counted. This morning, Mr. Kulzer

received 10 of the absentee votes with Mr. Leviker receiving 5. Mr. Kulzer wins

the primary with 105 votes to Mr. Leviker's 88.

Croghan Town Council (Democratic Primary):

Three people were vying for the Democratic Party nomination for two seats on

the Croghan Town Council. On election nght, Thomas Kalamas had 22 votes,

Derek M. Gage had 19 and Todd H. Lyndaker had 14. After this morning's

absentee count, Mr. Kalamas finished with a total of 31 votes, Mr. Gage finished

with 25 and Mr. Lyndaker had 19. Mr. Kalamas and Mr. Gage move on to the

November 5 General Election.

Town of Montague Highway Superintendent (Republican Primary):

Clifford "Tony" Young held a single vote lead over Sidney Goutermout Sr. on

election night, with one absentee ballot. The absentee ballot counted this

morning was for Mr. Young, giving him 13 votes to Mr. Goutermout's 11.
