Beaver River in Castorland on Wednesday, performing a search and rescue drill scenario to hone in their skills in the event of an actual emergency. Members from the Sheriff's Dive Team and Marine Unit were joined by the Croghan Fire Department's Cold Water Rescue team in carrying out the operation. The scenario involved a child who was "missing" from a property along the river. The teams practiced all aspects of a water search, from launching the boats and getting divers into the water to performing pendulum and group searches. The Sheriff's Dive Team is made up of all volunteers who provide their own equipment. Training Officer Patrick Morse said joint drills like this are usually held on a yearly basis at a minimum and help the team prepare for situations that may call them into action.
