Middletown this weekend, competing in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Outdoor Track Championships. Lexi Bernard and Hannah Ielfield, both from South Lewis, ran in the girls competition, with Colton Kempney and Cory Demo, both from Beaver River, running on the boys side. Sophomore Hannah Ielfield, competing in her second State outdoor meet, ran in two events, placing 2nd in the Division 2 Small Schools 3,000 meter race with a new school record time of 10:02.01. The time was 8th place overall across all divisions, earning her a Federation Medal. Hannah also took 3rd place in the Division 2 Small Schools 1,500 meter race, posting a time of 4:42.60. Hannah will race in the 2,000 meter Steeplechase at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, NC on June 15. Freshman Colton Kempney, competing in his first State outdoor meet, ran in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase on Saturday morning, recording a time of 9:55.73 to earn 6th place in the Division 2 Small Schools standings. Colton will race in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, NC on June 15.
