to break ground for the first of two phases towards a new fire hall in the village. "A new building is no longer a want, but a need," fire chief Gary Ashline said during the ceremony, while noting the space issues facing the department. The first phase of the project will consist of the construction of a new 40 foot by 60 foot building to be used for meetings, in addition to use as a community room. This phase is estimated to cost $225,000. The second phase, anticipated for 2020, will construct 60 foot by 96 foot truck bay, connected to the first building. This will include a bay for each of the department's five trucks, along with a wash bay. There will also be a shower and wash room for firefighters returning from a fire. This phase of the project is estimated at a cost of $600,000. For more, see our full video below from this afternoon's ceremony: |
