Memorial Day Parade and Military Honors On Monday, May 27th starting at 11:00 AM the veterans of our community and a full military honor guard will have a parade through the Village of Lowville. The parade will include the Lowville Academy Marching Band, fire department, scouts, dairy princess and more. The parade will start at the Ford garage and end at Veterans Memorial Park.
Veterans Memorial Park. After a short speech, the public is invited to the Lowville American Legion. Food will be available with donations encouraged. Meals will be delivered to homebound Veterans in our Community. The VFW and Marine Corp League will also have snacks available. Our Military Museum will be open to the public. The vast majority of our Museum is dedicated to Local Veterans, so we encourage you to assist us in placing names on the numerous faces that adorn our walls. The American Legion is located at 5383 Dayan Street, Lowville. The American Legion Legionnaires is currently recruiting new members. on Sunday, May 26th. The joint American Legion, VFW and Marine Corp League Honor Guard with leave from the Lowville Legion at Noon and travel to cemeteries in the following communities at the following approximate times:
Petries Corners 1:45 PM Beaches Bridge 2 PM Old Glendale 2:20 PM Martinsburg 2:30 PM West Martinsburg 2:45 PM West Lowville 3 PM Fairview, Vary Road 3:20 PM Swinburne, Roberts Road 3:30 PM Hillside, State Route 26 at 3:45 PM Times are subject to change. On Monday, May 27th, the Color Guard will leave the post at 7:30 am with the following stops scheduled approximately: Wilcox Rd (near the sales barn) 7:45 AM Reed cemetery, Phinney Rd. 8 AM Lee Lumber, East Rd. 8:15 AM East State St, 8:25 a.m.; River St 8:35 AM Jackson St., 8:45 AM Upper Stowe St. 8:50 AM Lowville Rural, 9 AM Loved ones who have Veterans that have been laid to rest are encouraged to attend this solemn ceremony. We provide full military honors to veterans set to rest at these cemeteries. The American Legion is located at 5383 Dayan Street, Lowville. On Monday we will be hosting an “Open House”. Please stop and visit out newly open museum honoring our Local Veterans. Assistance is needed in identifying personnel in some of our photographs.
