    Sen. Griffo announces funding for road repair projects

    Senator stresses parity for Upstate, Downstate infrastructure needs

    UTICA – State Sen. Joseph Griffo, R-I-C-Rome, announced today that several
    roads in his district will get some needed repairs as part of the state’s PAVE NY
    initiative, which helps municipalities rehabilitate and reconstruct their roads.

    The projects in the Senator’s district are as follows:

    · Oneida County: $910,000 to resurface Interstate 790 from Route 5A to
    River Road.

    ·Lewis County: $510,000 to resurface Route 26 from County Route 38 to
    Carpenter Road.

    “While I support funding for these road projects, I believe that we must continue
    to do more to truly address Upstate New York’s infrastructure issues and to
    ensure that there is parity in the investments between upstate and downstate
    and New York City,” Sen. Griffo said. “We have recently seen the Governor and
    Democrat legislators from downstate fighting over the needs of the MTA and
    New York City’s transportation infrastructure. We must focus equal attention on
    finding ways to increase funding for the Consolidated Local Street and Highway
    Improvement Program and PAVE NY and restore the Extreme Winter Recovery
    funds that could be eliminated in this year’s State Budget. Our local roads matter
    and we should make it a priority to invest in our infrastructure.”

    Sen. Griffo helped to secure a record $603 million for the Consolidated Local
    Streets and Highway Program, Pave New York and Extreme Winter Recovery to
    rehabilitate and modernize roads and highways in the region in the 2018-19
    budget.
