the annual pageant, scheduled this year for April 27th at the Lowville Elks Lodge. Current Lewis County Dairy Princess, and recently-crowned New York State Dairy Princess Reegan Domagala, will be passing on her county crown to a new contestant. Applications are now available for Dairy Princess (PDF) and Dairy Ambassador (PDF). Completed applications must be returned by April 1st. Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to attend a meeting on March 20, at 7:30 p.m., at the old Cornell Cooperative Extensive meeting room at the DSS building on Stowe Street in Lowville. In order to be eligible to run for Dairy Princess or an Ambassador, contestants must be between the ages of 9 and 24, a daughter of a farmer, farm manager, an employee of an agricultural related industry, be employed themselves by a farm related industry, a member of 4H or FFA, or sponsored by a farm. Members of the court will be tasked with promoting the dairy industry in Lewis County. Duties of the Princesses and Ambassadors during their time on the court include organizing media articles and appearances, school presentations, attending farm meetings, providing monthly reports, making public appearances, scooping ice cream at the county fair and other events, and attending parades.
