Lowville, NY- Residents in the village of Lowville will head to the polls on
March 19th, with a number of positions up for election. Voters will elect a new
mayor, in addition to filling two of the four trustee seats.

Current mayor, Donna Smith, has formally announced to linkinglewiscounty.
com that she will not be seeking a third term. Mrs. Smith has served as mayor
    since 2011.

"It's a very time consuming position," Mayor Smith said, adding, "I feel I have
done my part and have reached my peak of productivity and energy that I can
    offer the position."

"I have truly enjoyed my time as mayor, but it's time I return my attention to
being a wife, a mother and a physical therapist," Mayor Smith said.

Mayor Smith said she still plans to be an active member of the village
community, and will continue working on the Cream Cheese Festival and other
projects and activities in the village.

We'll speak more with Mayor Smith about her term in office in the near future.

Current trustee and deputy mayor Joseph Beagle tells linkinglewiscounty.
