Lewis County Court Report: January 25, 2019

    Lowville, NY- The following plea and sentencing activity took place this
    morning in Lewis County court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding:

    Gregory D. Greene, 45, entered a guilty plea to a charge of third-degree
    Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, a class D felony. Sentencing in
    the case was adjourned to March 22. Mr. Greene admitted to possessing
    materials used in the manufacturing of the substance on July 26, 2018 in the
    town of Lowville.

    Joshua E. Hunkins, 30, of Port Leyden, was sentenced to serve 10 years in
    State prison, followed by 3 years of post-release parole, on charges of second-
    degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class C felony and
    Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class B felony, to which he
    entered guilty pleas on November 16. Judge King then mandated him to the
    State Prison System's 90-day Willard Drug Rehabilitation program, which
    allows individuals to serve the remainder of their sentence on parole after
    successful completion. Mr. Hunkins was additionally ordered to pay $750 in
    court fees and will have his license to drive suspended for 6 months.

    Mr. Hunkins admitted to possessing the materials to make methamphetamine,
    along with a quantity of the substance, on June 7, 2018 in the town of
    Lyonsdale. He was previously convicted of third-degree Unlawful Manufacture
    of Methamphetamine, a class D felony, on May 16, 2016, resulting in the
    harsher charge this time.

    CORRECTION: A previous version of this story stated that inmates were not
    eligible to participate in the Willard program until they had three or less years
    remaining on their sentence. We were provided incorrect information,
    participants ARE eligible to participate in the Willard program with more than  
    three years remaining on their sentence
