Department responded to an incident involving a gunshot wound on Dayan Street, just outside the village, shortly after 11 o'clock last night. Police are releasing very few details, due to the nature of the case, confirming only that a male subject was airlifted to SUNY Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest. No updates were available on the subject's condition this morning Due to New York State Mental Hygiene laws, no further details are expected to be released on the matter, according to Lewis County Sheriff Michael Carpinelli. There is no criminal activity suspected, according to the Sheriff. The Sheriff's Office and Lowville Police were assisted by Lewis County Search & Rescue and a LifeNet air medical helicopter. |
