Lyons Falls Man Accepts Plea Deal
After Facing Over 28,000 Criminal Counts

    Lowville, NY- A Lyons Falls man appeared in Lewis County Court this
    morning, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding, accepting a plea deal
    that will likely send him to prison for 13 years.

    Shaun M. Liscum, 40, pleaded guilty to one count each of:

  • First-degree Attempted Burglary, a class C felony
  • Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, a class A misdemeanor
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor
  • First-degree Criminal Contempt, a class E felony

    Mr. Liscum admitted to unlawfully entering the residence of an ex-girlfriend on
    S. State Street in the Village of Lowville on March 18th, with the intent to cause
    injury and placing his hands around the neck of a second female at the
    residence while applying pressure. He admitted that this took place in the
    presence of a child under the age of 17. (Police report here)

    After his arrest on those charges, while being held at the Lewis County Jail on
    a probation violation due to a previous conviction for sex abuse, Mr. Liscum
    admitted to placing  9,617 phone calls to a female, violating an order of
    protection that was issued on her behalf. By pleading guilty to one count of first-
    degree Criminal Contempt, all 28,851 counts he was facing in that case were
    satisfied.

    Sentencing in the case was adjourned until February 1st, when Mr. Liscum is
    expected to receive a total of 13 years in State prison, followed by 10 years of
    post-release parole.
