Lewis County Grand Jury Indicts Port Leyden Man on Sex Charges

    Lowville, NY- A Lewis County grand jury handed up an indictment of a Port
    Leyden man this morning in Lewis County Court.

    Michael E. Daskiewich, 58, was indicted on the following 9 charges:

  • 2 counts of first-degree Criminal Sex Act, class B felonies
  • 2 counts of third-degree Criminal Sex Act, class E felonies
  • 1 count of first-degree Sex Abuse, a class D felony
  • 1 count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor
  • 2 counts of Unlawfully Dealing with a Child, class A misdemeanors
  • 1 count of third-degree Conspiracy, a class D felony

    According to the New York State Police, Mr. Daskiewich is accused of
    providing alcohol to two minors and then engaging in sexual contact with a
    minor under the age of 17 years old.  The defendant was taken into custody
    after agreeing to meet up with a minor to possibly engage in further sexual
    contact following the initial reported incident.  This incident is alleged to have
    occurred between October 20 to October 21, 2018 in the Town of Leyden.

    Mr. Daskiewich was being held in Lewis County Jail, with bail set at $5,000
    cash / $10,000 bond, and has since posted bond.  A stay-away order of
    protection was issued by Lewis County Judge Daniel R. King on behalf of the
    victim. Mr. Daskiewich is scheduled to appear in court on January 11.
