NYSP: Syracuse Man Charged With DWI After
Crashing Into Multiple Parked Vehicles in Town of West Turin

    West Turin, NY- Multiple agencies responded to a reported multi-vehicle
    accident Saturday evening on State Route 26 in the Town of West Turin.

    Dispatchers reported up to four vehicles involved, while requesting a number of
    fire and ambulance agencies respond.

    Further information later revealed that a pickup truck, towing a trailer with
    multiple ATVs, struck a series of parked vehicles along the side of the road
    before overturning. No one was in any of the parked vehicles.

    The driver of the truck, Michael E. Webster, 54, of Syracuse, was reportedly
    entrapped, with Turin Fire responding with the Jaws of Life to extricate the
    patient. Mr. Webster was transported to Lewis County General hospital for
    treatment of unspecified injuries.

    Mr. Webster was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated,
    Imprudent Speed and Moving From a Lane Unsafely. He was issued tickets to
    appear in the Town of West Turin court at a later date.

    State Police were assisted at the scene by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office,
    Constableville, Turin and West Leyden Fire, Lewis County Search and
    Rescue, Groff's Towing and Unlimited Towing.

    Update Information from State Police at 04:15 PM:

    On October 6, 2018 , at 7:52 pm, State Police responded to State Route 26 in
    the Town of West Turin in regards to a personal injury accident involving
    multiple vehicles. Upon arrival, Troopers observed 5 vehicles off the shoulder
    of the roadway with damage.  In addition, a V nose trailer on its side in the
    roadway and a pickup truck on its side in the middle of the roadway
    approximately 150 feet south of the trailer.  The 5 vehicles were parked and not
    occupied.

    Investigation revealed a 2011 red Dodge Ram was towing a V nose trailer
    traveling south on State Route 26 in the Town of West Turin at an imprudent
    speed and moved from the lane of travel unsafely by exiting the western
    shoulder striking a parked, brown 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix. As a result, the
    Grand Prix was projected approximately 30 feet striking a parked 2017 green
    Dodge Challenger Hellcat and a parked green 2018 Subaru Forester before
    coming to rest on its roof.

    Webster’s vehicle then swerved causing the trailer to separate and roll-over
    several times coming to rest in the roadway.  Webster’s vehicle continued
    south on State Route 26 and exited the western shoulder again striking  a
    parked gray 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee.  As a result, the Jeep was pushed
    into a parked blue 2006 Ford F150 pick-up truck.  Webster’s vehicle then barrel
    rolled on the roadway coming to rest on the driver's side and trapping Webster
    in his vehicle.  Webster was transported to Lewis County Hospital and then
    transferred to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with internal injuries.

    On 10/10/2018, Mr. Webster was charged with DWI,  Move from Lane Unsafely
    and Speeding and was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of
    West Turing Court on 11/7/2018 at 5:30 pm.
