Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Kayleigh I. Arnold, 26, of Harrisville, accepted a plea deal and entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a class "E" felony. Sentencing was scheduled for December 7, when she is expected to receive 1 1/2 to 3 years in State prison as a second-felony offender. Ms. Arnold admitted to stealing a shotgun and rifle from a residence in the Town of Croghan on August 12, 2017. William J. Baldwin, 41, of Lowville, was allowed to withdraw a guilty plea to a charge of fifth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony, after successful completion of interim conditions of probation. He then entered a GUILTY plea to an amended charge of seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "A" misdemeanor, and was sentenced to serve three years of probation and pay $50 in court fees. Mr. Baldwin was accused of selling heroin in the Village of Lowville on November 15, 2016. Joshua M. Beardslee, 32, of Watertown was arraigned on a charge of third- degree Burglary, a class "D" felony, and Petit Larceny, a class "A" misdemeanor. A NOT GUILTY plea was entered on both counts. The case was adjourned to November 2. Bail was set at $7,500 cash or $15,000 bond. Mr. Beardslee is accused of stealing from the Walmart store in the Town of Lowville on March 29, 2018. Holly M. Gonyea, 32, of Lowville, was sentenced to time served and five years of probation on a charge of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a class "E" felony, to which she pleaded GUILTY to on June 22. She was additionally ordered to pay $375 in court fees and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. Ms. Gonyea was accused of stealing a 7mm bolt-action rifle on April 16, 2018 in the Town of Watson. Theresa M. Hewitt, 25, of Lowville, was arraigned and pleaded GUILTY to charges of Petit Larceny and Insurance Fraud, both class "A" misdemeanors. She was then sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay $50 in court fees. Restitution in the amount of $5,142.50 has been paid in full. Ms. Hewitt admitted to making false statements of being unemployed to receive $5,142.50 in unemployment insurance benefits she was not entitled to. Denver J. Larkins, 18, of Glenfield, was sentenced to a total of 1 1/2 years in Lewis County Jail (1 year on the Sex Abuse charge and 6 months on the Burglary charge, to be served consecutively) and ten years of probation on charges of first-degree Sexual Abuse and third-degree Burglary, both class "D" felonies, to which he pleaded GUILTY to on June 22. He was additionally ordered to pay $1,800 in court fees, $2,139.50 in restitution and was classified as a Level 1 sex offender, the lowest level of classification. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. Mr. Larkins was accused of sexually abusing a four-year-old female, in the Town of Croghan, between August of 2016 and August of 2017, in addition to breaking into and stealing property from Lewis Lanes in the Town of Lowville on September 27, 2017. Corey D. Marolf, 21, of Turin, was sentenced to serve 7 years in State prison followed by five years of post-release parole on a charge of second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a class "C" felony, to which he entered a GUILTY plea to on August 17. He was ordered to pay $375 in court fees and forfeited $865 in seized assets. satisfying all counts he was facing. Mr. Marolf admitted to possessing a loaded assault weapon, on the couch beside him, in the Town of West Turin on April 26, 2018. At that time he was on probation for a previous misdemeanor weapons conviction from 2017. David W. Norton, Jr., 47, of Carthage, was sentenced to five days in Lewis County Jail and five years of probation after successful completion of interim conditions of probation on a charge of felony Driving While Intoxicated. He was ordered to pay $570 in court fees and a $1,000 fine. His driver's license will be revoked for one year. Mr. Norton admitted to operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol on February 3, 2017 in the Town of Denmark. The charge was a felony based on a prior DWI conviction on March 13, 2012 in the Village of Lowville. James H. Smith, 25, of Deer River, was sentenced to serve one year in Lewis County Jail on a charge of first-degree Criminal Contempt, a class "E" felony, which he pleaded guilty to on August 3. He was ordered to pay $375. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim. Mr. Smith admitted to violating a court order of protection on March 20, in the Town of Denmark, when he struck the protected party. Nicole A. Stauring, 26, of Lowville, was allowed to withdraw her guilty plea to a charge of fifth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony, after successful completion of interim conditions of probation, and instead pleaded GUILTY to seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "A" misdemeanor. She was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to perform 25 hours of community service. Her driver's license was suspended for six months and she was ordered to pay $250 in court fees. Ms. Stauring admitted to possessing cocaine during a search of her residence on February 9, 2017. |
