| Deputies Locate Toddler Lost in Cornfield in Town of Lowville With Assistance From K-9 Wyman 10/11/18 11:00am By: Nick Altmire |
the Town of Lowville at 3:19 on Wednesday afternoon, for a report of a missing three-year-old male. Undersheriff Jason McIntosh tells linkinglewiscounty.com that the child was playing in the backyard with the family cat. The mother looked away for a moment and when she looked back both the child and cat were gone. The mother reportedly searched a large cornfield adjacent to the yard for approximately half an hour before calling the Sheriff's Office. A Sheriff's patrol unit was dispatched to the scene, along with K-9 handler Deputy Cory Paczkowski and K-9 Wyman. Two New York State Police units assisted at the scene as well. The K-9 unit arrived on scene at 3:31 PM, with K-9 Wyman quickly able to detect the child's scent on the outskirts of the cornfield. The child was safely located, along with the cat, about 200 yards into the field at 3:52 PM, through K-9 Wyman's tracking capabilities. |
