    Lowville, NY- The month of August was warmer and wetter than average in
    Lowville, according to data from the Northeast Regional Climate Center.

    Last month, the mean temperature in Lowville was 70.4 degrees, almost 5
    degrees warmer than the average mean temperature for August of 65.6. This
    was the fifth warmest mean temperature on record, with records dating back to
    1893. The top five are:
  • 1941 and 1928- 71.6 degrees
  • 1955-  71.1 degrees
  • 1937- 70.8 degrees
  • 2018- 70.4 degrees

    The average daily high temperature for the month was 80.1 degrees, compared
    to the normal of 76.6 degrees. The temperature reached 80 or above during 19
    days last month, while 7 other days reached a high of 79.

    As for precipitation, 4.65 inches of rain was recorded in Lowville last month,
    nearly an inch above the 3.87 inch average. Last month was the 29th wettest
    August on record. Year to date precipitation is now 23.43 inches, compared to
    the average of 25.60 inches.
