**PAID POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT**
    Lowville, NY- The following activity took place this morning in Lewis County
    Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding:

    Brandon R. Chapel, 21, of Castorland, was sentenced to serve a 6 year
    probation term on a charge of Sexual Misconduct, a class "A" misdemeanor, to
    which he pleaded GUILTY to on June 29. He was additionally ordered to pay
    $1,300 in court fees. An order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim
    for six years. Judge King assessed Mr. Chapel as a Level I sex offender, the
    lowest level, over the objection of District Attorney Leanne Moser, who had
    advocated for a Level II designation based on her scoring. Mr. Chapel was
    accused of having sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 17
    between April 1 and May 27, in the Town of Croghan.

    Matthew D. Cobb, 26, of Port Leyden, was sentenced to a 3 year probation
    term and 50 hours of community service on a charge of second-degree
    Offering to File a False Instrument, a class "A" misdemeanor, to which he
    pleaded GUILTY to on June 22. He was ordered to pay $250 in court fees and
    is not allowed to apply for public assistance benefits for six months. Mr. Cobb
    was accused of falsifying time sheets submitted to the Lewis County
    Department of Social Services for payment of babysitting duties he did not
    perform between November 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017.

    James M. Dean, 66, of Gouverneur, was sentenced to a 3 year probation term
    on a charge of fifth-degree Arson, a class "A" misdemeanor, which he entered a
    GUILTY plea to on June 22. Mr. Dean was accused of starting a fire on
    October 19, 2015, at a trailer on Paddy Street in New Bremen.

    Jennifer S. Loonan, 57, Carthage, was sentenced to a 1 year conditional
    discharge after successful completion of a six-month pretrial release. Ms.
    Loonan entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of fourth-degree Criminal Mischief,
    a class "A" misdemeanor on November 17, 2017. Restitution in the amount of
    $477.70 was paid in full and she was ordered to pay $50 in court fees. Ms.
    Loonan was accused of burning her husband's clothes at their Town of
    Denmark home on August 12, 2017.
