Lowville, NY- The Lowville Village Board of Trustees unanimously approved an
amendment to the local dog law at their meeting on Wednesday evening. A
public hearing was held prior to the vote.

Previously, the law stated that owner's must clean up after their dog in public
parks. After a series of complaints, which were unenforceable due to the wording
in the law, trustees decided to amend the law to state " Dog owners are
responsible for cleaning up after their dogs when walking their dog on any
property which is not of their ownership. This includes public parks, sidewalks
and land owned by another individual."

The new law takes effect immediately. Anyone caught violating the law may be
    ticketed and fined.

The amended law is included below for review.
