Lowville's Year-to-Date Precipitation Levels Significantly Below Normal

    Lowville, NY- With a large portion of Lewis County now officially declared as
    experiencing moderate drought conditions, it's no surprise to learn that
    precipitation amounts year-to-date are significantly below normal.

    According to data from the Northeast Regional Climate Center, Lowville would
    normally receive 19.53 inches of precipitation between January 1 and July 12.
    This year, only 14.61 inches of precipitation has been measured. The first four
    months of the year saw close to normal precipitation amounts, but since May 1st
    only 3.53 inches has been recorded. The normal amount from May 1 through
    July 12 is 8.14 inches.

    For perspective, last year saw 5.43 inches in May and 9.48 inches in June, well
    above normal levels.

    Normal precipitation for May is 3.35 inches, while 3.43 inches is normal for June.
    This year, Lowville has seen only 1.15 inches in May, 1.82 inches in June and
    just 0.56 inches in July (through July 12).
