NWS: Dangerously High Heat Index Levels Expected This Weekend

    Lewis County, NY- According to the National Weather Service, Lewis County
    can expect dangerously high heat indicies this weekend. The heat index, also
    known as the apparent temperature, is what the temperature feels like to the
    human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature.

    The National Weather Service has issued the following Hazardous Weather
    Outlook for Lewis and Jefferson counties:

    It will become very hot and humid for the upcoming weekend with dangerously
    high heat indicies Saturday and Sunday. The heat index is forecast to peak
    around 95 degrees on Saturday, and in the 100 to 104 degree range on Sunday.
    Temperatures will also remain very warm and humid Saturday night and Sunday
    night.

    Several consecutive days of hot temperatures and very warm nights compounds
    the impact on vulnerable portions of the population without access to air
    conditioning, such as the elderly, very young, and those with heart and
    respiratory conditions. Those with outdoor plans should plan accordingly.
