in Lewis County Court, with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Brandon R. Chapel, 21, of Castorland, was arraigned and entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of Sexual Misconduct, a class "A" misdemeanor. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to September 7. Mr. Chapel was accused of having sexual intercourse with a female under the age of 17 between April 1 and May 27, in the Town of Croghan. Daniel P. Doolen Jr., 27, of Lowville, admitted to a probation violation by testing positive for opioids on May 23. He was serving a 2 year probation term on a Petit Larceny conviction. His Probation was revoked and Mr. Doolen was then sentenced to serve 1 year in Lewis County Jail. Victor G. Ehlers, 35, of Lyons Falls, was sentenced to serve 6 months in Lewis County Jail followed by 5 years of probation on a charge of third-degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a Class "D" felony, to which he pleaded guilty to on April 27. The April 27 plea satisfied all counts in the indictment against Mr. Ehlers, which also included second-degree Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, seventh-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and two counts of fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. He was additionally ordered to pay $375 in court fees, will receive a six-month suspension of his driver's license and was ordered to pay $108.47 in restitution. Weapons seized in the incident were ordered to be forfeited. The charges stemmed from a March 30, 2017 arrest, after state police allegedly found methamphetamine and meth- making materials as well as several weapons at his residence in Lyons Falls. Melanie C. Greene, 57, Remsen, was sentenced to serve a 5 year probation term on a charge of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a class "E" felony, to which she pleaded guilty to on April 16. At that time, she admitted to a previous DWI conviction in the Town of Trenton on January 15, 2008, making the current charge a felony. She was additionally ordered to pay $570 in court fees and a $1,000 fine, and must perform 50 hours of community service, participate in a Victim Impact Panel, as well as being required to use an ignition interlock device. Her driver's license will be revoked for 18 months. Ms. Greene was accused of operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.23 on October 1, 2017, in the Town of Watson. Dennis Hill, 32, of Johnstown, NY, pleaded GUILTY to a charge of fifth-degree Attempted Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "E" felony. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to August 17. Mr. Hill was accused of attempting to sell LSD in the Town of Turin on July 2, 2017. Corey J. Noftsier, 26, of Lowville, entered GUILTY pleas to one count of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child, a class "E" felony, and one count of Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor. He was then placed in the Lewis County Drug Court program, with sentencing adjourned until completion of drug court. Mr. Noftsier was accused of operating a vehicle on the Greig Road, in the Town of Greig, on August 20, 2017, while under the influence of marijuana and alprazolam with a six-year-old child in the vehicle. Candy B. Wakefield was sentenced to a 1 year Conditional Discharge on a charge of second-degree Offering a False Instrument to File, a class "A" misdemeanor, to which she pleaded guilty to on May 4. She was ordered to pay $250 in court fees, perform 15 hours of community service, in addition to being restricted from applying for SNAP benefits for a six month period.
