Lewis County's 24/7 Home for News,
Sports, Weather, Events &  More
Lowville, NY- Lewis County officials unveiled their solar project at a ribbon-
    cutting ceremony this morning.

The solar array, constructed by Greenskies Renewable Energy, LLC., is located
behind the Public Safety Building on Stowe St., on 10 acres of County owned
    land.

The system can produce up to 2-megawatts of power daily and will be used to
offset power costs at County facilities as well as some to the Lewis County
    General Hospital.

The system of 7,932 solar panels and 67 inverters is expected to save Lewis
County taxpayers over $3 million in power costs over the next 20 years.

A monitor set up outside of the Treasurer's office, at the County building on N.
State St., shows real time daily energy production from the solar array.

Greenskies Renewable Energy's Vice President of Construction John Beauton
explains a little about how the system works in the video below, which also
    includes the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
