    Lowville, NY- Around 50 people participated in the annual Lewis County Tax
    Foreclosure Real Estate Auction held at the Lowville Elks Lodge on Wednesday,
    where 15 of the 16 available parcels were sold.

    Winning bids ranged from a high of $45,000 for a property in the village of
    Lowville, to a low of $700 for a parcel in the town of Lewis. The total sale price
    for the 15 sold properties totaled $174,800. A landlocked parcel was the only
    parcel not sold.

    The properties owe a combined tax bill of around $68,000, according to County
    Treasurer Patricia O'Brien. That leaves around $106,800 before auction-related
    fees are figured in. Mrs. O'Brien said a final figure would be available in a few
    days, after each property's fees were calculated.

    The County budgeted for a $110,000 net profit from the tax auction in the 2018
    budget.
