Court with the Honorable Daniel R. King presiding: Timothy C. Ayers, 65, Harrisville, was sentenced to a 1 Year Conditional Discharge on a charge of third-degree Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, a class "A" misdemeanor, to which he pleaded guilty to on March 16. He was additionally ordered to pay $50 in court fees. Mr. Ayers was accused of cashing a forged check in the amount of $20 at the Tops Market in the Village of Lowville on August 12, 2017. Matthew G. Furst, 34, of Watertown, was sentenced to serve three years in State prison followed by two years of parole on charges of three counts of third- degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "B" felony; second-degree Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia; and Speeding, a traffic infraction. Judge King then mandated him to the State Prison System’s 90-day Willard Drug Rehabilitation Program, which allows inmates who successfully complete the program to serve the remainder of their prison sentence under parole supervision. He was additionally ordered to pay $375 in court fees and $178 in fines and will receive a six-month driver's license suspension. The charges stem from an incident occurring on June 6, 2017 in the Town of Diana. Michael Gerace, 34, of Boonville, pleaded GUILTY to an amended charge of fifth-degree Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "E" felony, satisfying all charges against him. He had been facing charges of fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony and Unlawful Disposal of Meth Lab Material, a class "A" misdemeanor. The case was adjourned to May 18th for sentencing, when it is expected he will be placed on Interim Conditions of Probation for one year. The charges stem from an incident occurring in the Town of Leyden on February 18, 2017. Joseph G. Hutchins, 29, Boonville, was sentenced to serve 1 1/3 to 4 years in State prison on a charge of Sex Offender Registry Violation, a class "E" felony, and was ordered to pay $325 in court fees. He was adjudicated a second-felony offender due to previous felony convictions in 2011 and 2016. The charge stemmed from Mr. Hutchins, a level two sex offender, failing to register a phone in January. Jeffrey F. Jantzi, 40, currently an inmate in Seneca County Jail, was arraigned and entered a guilty plea to a charge of third-degree Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine, a class "D" felony. On February 16, Mr. Jantzi entered guilty pleas to one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "C" felony and one count of fifth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "D" felony. Today he was sentenced on all three charges, for a total of 3 1/2 years in State prison followed by one year of parole. He was additionally ordered to pay $1,125 in court fees and will have his driver's license suspended for six months. The first charge listed stems from Mr. Jantzi possessing meth-making materials in the Town of Greig on November 21, 2017. The second charge listed accused him of selling buphrenorphine while an inmate at Lewis County Jail on April 25, 2017. The third charge listed stems from Mr. Jantzi selling methamphetamine in the Town of West Leyden on November 1, 2017. Ryan G. Pratt, 44, of Lowville, was sentenced to a three year probation term on a charges of fourth-degree Criminal Possession of Marijuana and Resisting Arrest, both class "A" misdemeanors, to which he entered guilty pleas on March 16. He was additionally ordered to pay $250 in court fees and will receive a six- month driver's license suspension. Mr. Pratt was accused of possessing marijuana plants at his residence in the Town of Greig when police attempted to serve eviction papers on July 13, 2017. He was additionally accused of struggling with police officers as they attempted to place him under arrest. Thomas J. Vance, 25, Watertown, was arraigned and entered a GUILTY plea to an amended count of Petit Larceny, a class "A" misdemeanor. He was originally facing a charge of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, a class "E" felony. Sentencing was set for July 13th. Mr. Vance was accused of stealing jewelry from a residence in the Town of Denmark on September 13, 2017. |
