Lowville, NY- Lowville Academy District Superintendent Cheryl R. Steckly
notified parents and residents about a potential threat the district learned of this
    morning.

According to an automated message, Mrs. Steckley stated that a student
reported concerning comments they had seen posted by another student on
social media over the weekend to administrators this morning.

The student who made the comments was immediately brought to the office and
law enforcement and the parents were contacted, according to Mrs. Steckly.
Following questioning and an investigation, officials do not believe there is a
credible threat and at no time were students and staff in any danger, Mrs.
Steckly said. The student was removed from school and is under close
supervision while police continue to investigate.

Mrs. Steckly said the district is treating all of these circumstances and statements
with the highest level of seriousness and will continue to do everything possible
to ensure the security and well-being of everyone at Lowville Academy.
