Lowville, NY- The Lewis County Sheriff's Office announced an expanded Parks
& Recreation Patrol at a press conference today. A pair of 2018 Polaris RZR 900
Series UTVs were purchased, after approval from the Lewis County Board of
    Legislators at their April meeting.

The UTVs will allow the Sheriff's Office to actively patrol and enforce laws on the
County's vast ATV trail system this season, while also promoting safety. Prior to
the purchase of the UTVs, the department was limited to a 2001 Polaris 500 four-
wheeler, which had seen better days. The two UTVs, purchased through
Gambles Distributors in Carthage, in addition to a trailer to haul them, cost a little
    under $38,000.

The new units, which arrived earlier this week, came just in time to get their first
workout tomorrow at the 15th Annual SNIRT Run.

You can see our video below, with a few clips where we got to check out the new
UTVs and were taken out for a ride. The press conference explaining the
expanded Parks & Recreation Patrol and SNIRT Run details starts at the 1:28
    mark.
