where wind gusts in the 60 mph range were experienced around the county. Last evening at this time, National Grid reported 3,176 customers without power in the county. Tonight, that number is at 961. All 354 customers in Osceola are still listed as without power, as well as 112 in the Town of Watson, 107 in the Town of Croghan, 104 in the Town of New Bremen, 96 in the Town of Diana, 86 in the Town of Leyden, in addition to smaller scattered outages. Estimated restoration times from National Grid ranged from 7 PM for Osceola to 11 PM for the Town of Diana. Lewis County Director of Emergency Management Robert MacKenzie said this morning that Lewis County fire departments were dispatched to 31 weather- related/wires down calls yesterday. Fire crews generally secure the scene and reroute traffic, when necessary, until National Grid crews are able to arrive on scene. According to the National Weather Service's Buffalo office, low pressure passing by to our north on Friday will generate another round of strong gusty winds across our region Friday afternoon and evening. While winds will not be as powerful as those from Wednesday, most areas should experience gusts to at least 40 mph, especially across higher terrain. |
