District 1 County Legislator Race Decided by Absentee Ballot Count

    Lowville, NY- Lewis County Board of Elections officials conducted a count of
    absentee ballots this morning, giving a final result for the District 1 race for
    Lewis County Legislator.

    After votes were counted on election night, John V. Lehman (R/C/Freedom)
    held a 278 to 260 vote lead over Ricky Taylor (D), with at least 43 absentee
    ballots received at that time. Following the absentee count Mr. Lehman held his
    lead, receiving 28 absentee votes to Mr. Taylor's 25. This gives Mr. Lehman
    the seat with a total vote count of 306 to Mr. Taylor's 285.

    Another race waiting on the absentee count was Town Clerk in Osceola, where
    after election night Ginny Churchill (NHZ) held a 66-64 lead over current clerk
    Mallory Sullivan Douglas (R/UNY). After absentee ballots were counted Ms.
    Churchill has won the seat, receiving 11 absentee votes to Ms. Sullivan
    Douglas' 4 absentee votes.

    In the race for Town of West Turin Highway Superintendent, Douglas Salmon
    (FT3) held a 265 to 251 vote lead after election night over Robert Greene (R).
    After absentee ballots were counted, Mr. Salmon wins the position by a final
    vote count of 274 to 263.
