Lowville Turkey Trot 2017
morning at 9am. An awesome turnout of 170 runners and walkers participated on a chilly, but sunny day. Runners came from throughout Lewis County and Boonville and brought family members visiting from afar, including Syracuse, Rochester, Pennsylvania, Florida, California and places in between. The Lowville Turkey Trot is a fun run. Participants completed a 3.1-mile loop on the streets of Lowville. Along with the many runners, approximately fifty people walked the course to enjoy their Thanksgiving morning exercise. The fastest runners for the day were: Females - Taylor Moore and Sierra Kempney in a time of 24:11, followed by Michelle Liendecker in 24:16; Males - Brent Millard in a time of 18:40, Jim Brady in 18:42, and Hunter Moore in 19:45. Double Play Community Center is excited to organize this great event. Double Play thanks its tremendous financial sponsors: Lowville Medical Associates and Avangrid Renewable Energy as lead sponsors; Bellers Auto as a financial contributor; and Lowville Farmers Coop, Walmart, Tops Markets and Kinneys Drugs for their in-kind contributions. The Lowville Presbyterian Church provided home made pies for raffle prizes. The Lowville Turkey Trot provides all of its proceeds to the United Way Renee Beyer Memorial Fund. Double Play Community Center is proud to support this important fund raising effort. In 2017, the event will donate approximately $3,300 to the fund. The Turkey Trot will be back in 2018 and anticipates more participation from Lewis County folks and their families looking to start their Thanksgiving Day off with some fun and exercise. |
